“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
Rory has always been a dreamer, full of ideas. When he was growing up, his father called him an ideas man and told him that, one day, his ideas would see him become very successful. Writing has always been one of his passions. Every year his mother requests that he write her a poem for her birthday.
Rory’s love for children’s picture books is a combination of his love for verse and his love of humour. If you ask anyone that knows him – even just a little bit – they will tell you that he loves dad jokes, particularly puns. His humour is evident in his writing, whether it’s his lighthearted children’s stories, such as Vlad, or his award winning Young Adult book Hansel and Gretel: Zombie Siblings.
Rory lives in Toowoomba with his beautiful wife and their two adorable – and rather naughty – puppies Hugo and Cooper. He often likes to sit in a shady spot of his back yard reading other people’s books. His favourite picture books are written by Sigi Cohen, Chrissie Krebs, Karl Newtown and Ross Collins.
